Installing TRS10 on a 64-bit Windows Operating System

Please note that TRS10 and higher will install on a 64-bit Windows Operating System, earlier versions of TRS will not.

If you are getting an error message that says that the installer will not run on a 64-bit installer then you will need to contact support for an installer that will work with your 64-bit Windows Operating System. If you are installing TRS10 on a computer with a 64-bit operating system that will be the TRS Server, then you will need to go into TRS's Database Administrator (Start -> Programs -> Total Retail Solution 10 -> Database Administrator) and change the Path to Data File from C:\Program Files\TRS10\Data\Data1000.FDB to C:\Program Files (x86)\TRS10\Data\Data1000.FDB. If you have clients that are going to talk to a database that is on a 64-bit Windows Operating System you will need to go into Database Administrator and change the path as instructed above as well, however, do not change the Server Name or any of the other settings on the client computers. If you have clients or the machine you are installing onto that is a 64-bit Windows Operating System is a client that are talking to a server not running a 64-bit Windows Operating System then you do not need to do anything with Database Administrator, just follow the normal instructions for a TRS10 Client Install. After installing TRS10 using either an installer that you get from support or one on your CD make sure to go to the updates section of our website at www.jmmsoftware.com and download and install the latest version.
